The Santa Cruz Yacht Club welcomes and encourages active boaters to apply for membership.
The Mission of the Santa Cruz Yacht Club is to encourage and support yachting. We promote boat use by facilitating quality sailing competition through one-design, coastal and offshore racing. We will also encourage cruising in power and sailing yachts by hosting events which entice owners to participate. We maintain a clubhouse where members can gather socially, conduct the business of the club and have meetings related to yachting.
We educate our members through lectures, junior sail training, racing clinics, and other means so that they will become proficient in racing, seamanship, cruising under sail, power and regatta management. We contribute to the good of yachting by hosting regattas and community events, offering reciprocal privileges to members of other clubs and by providing support to worthy yachting endeavors.
With respect to the Mission Statement of the Club, the Santa Cruz Yacht Club entertains applications for membership from those who are actively involved in boating, whether on their own boats, or crewing on others’ boats. There are several categories of membership: Regular Membership which provides all the privileges of membership; Corinthian Membership which is limited to those between the ages of 21 and 30 and carries limited privileges; Junior Membership which is limited to those between the ages of 8 and 20 and also carries limited privileges; and Non-Resident Membership which is a limited membership for those who live, work, and have their boat 70 miles from the Santa Cruz Yacht Club. The initiation fees and annual membership dues vary depending on the type of membership and are stated on the bottoms of the application forms.
If you would like to apply for membership in any of the categories listed above, you may call the club’s business office at 831-425-0690 and ask that an application form be mailed to you. Or you may download an application form using the appropriate hyperlink below. The application should be returned to the Club, along with a nonrefundable fee stated on the bottom of the application form, which will apply towards the applicant’s initiation fee upon acceptance. The Membership Committee, who later introduces the prospective members and their sponsors to the Board of Directors, interviews prospective members. The Board of Directors decides whether or not to accept the prospective member and announces its decision at the following board meeting. The entire process usually takes about 2 months to complete. The Santa Cruz Yacht Club is limited to 500 regular members. If a waiting list is in force at the time of your inquiry, ask to have your name put on the waiting list.
Anyone who is not currently a member of the Santa Cruz Yacht Club, but is a friend of a member, is welcome to attend yacht club functions if accompanied by a member.
We thank you for your interest in our club and in the Santa Cruz boating community.
